LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Hi Gary, I want to thank you for The Caretaker Gazette published
info. It's so fun and educational for newbies like me to learn
about the whole concept and activities of the caretaker
lifestyles. Thanks for all your efforts. Anne H., Hawthorne, CA
Thanks Anne. It's great to have you with us. I'm glad you're
finding our information informative and helpful to you as you
think about embarking on a caretaker lifestyle. If you ever have
any questions, please feel free to email or call us.
Good morning, I wanted to let you know that we have just accepted
a caretaking position. This job was a response to our
Situations-Wanted ad that we had emailed out! We are off to an
island on the east coast for seven months...excited for the
adventure. You guys are the best, thanks, Bonnie S., Ellensburg,
WA
That's great Bonnie! Congratulations! Enjoy!
This Letter to the Editor is from a property owner who advertised
for a caretaker in the Gazette. She wanted to share her point of
view about hiring people:
Why do property owners want a caretaker or a housesitter? Here
are two good reasons: 1. The owners want to keep their house
running and looking good. There may be employees, pets and plants
to give daily attention. Property owners aren't necessarily
looking for skilled labor, just a trouble-shooter. 2. There is a
need to have someone on the property to discourage crime. A
caretaker is getting a place to call their own in exchange for
their time and effort. Is housesitting right for you? Begin by
being honest. Can you resist the temptation of having friends and
relatives drop in? Only you have the right to be there, while
watching over someone else's property. Will you find solutions to
problems? Can you stop mildew from eating an outside deck? Do you
know what to do if bees enter the house walls? What about a
septic tank that overflows? Or an employee that steals? These
events actually happened at my house. If a homeowner asks if you
can handle such things, the answer he or she hopes to hear is, "I
may not know what to do now, but I will find out and deal with
it". Caretakers live in someone's home, and should be respectful
of that. Yet a common complaint is that too often the caretaker
sees this as an opportunity to run wild, and end up breaking all
the rules. Caretakers must have the ability to maintain,
business-like relationships with the locals and employees. It is
usually better while on the job to be a "hard Prickly" than a
"soft cuddly". "Housesitter". "Caretaker". The terms say it all
and are so definitive. Reread them slowly because they explain
the job. It can be a win-win for both the caretaker and the
homeowner. Since a housesitter needs to be on the premises most
of the time, he or she has the opportunity to write, paint, etc.
They may find themselves in a lovely property with a great view.
They just have to keep things clean and in order for the
homeowner. That is the exchange. And yet this concept is so hard
for some to grasp. I received several emails from people wanting
to housesit my house and asking if I could find them a job while
they were there. My reply? The housesitting position is the job.
To all of you that dream of un-fettering yourself I say, just do
it! You can inherit the Earth later. Make sure you are truly able
to bend, to give, and to keep a sense of humor. Marilyn C. Hana,
HI
Marilyn, thanks for writing and sharing advice from a property
owner's perspective. I'm sure that many of our subscribers will
be interested in your point of view. It's good to hear that your
caretaker-wanted ad in the Gazette resulted in a caretaker for
your Maui home.

FREE RENT available in Encino for a dog professional couple only.
This unique living situation isn't for everyone so please read
carefully before responding: We are a non-profit small dog rescue
in search of a responsible and stable live-in couple, with at
least one person who has extensive experience as either a
vet-tech, dog trainer, or very experienced dog rescuer. A groomer
may also be considered. This arrangement would be an exchange of
a one bedroom house with additional office space for our rescue
plus a shared kitchen, for your time and care for our dogs. Most
of our dogs are under 20lbs and we are not focused on one
specific breed. Although you must love dogs, you may not have
your own pet as you will be required to care for approximately 10
dogs on the property. Responsibilities will include: General
caretaking of the property, including cleaning after the dogs and
keeping the property tidy and presentable, letting the dogs out
of their crates each morning and returning them each night,
ensuring that they are getting along, and separating those who
are not sociable and working with them to integrate with other
dogs and humans, medicating dogs when needed, and monitoring for
issues that may arise such as kennel cough, limping, hair loss,
pain, etc., and reporting it to our staff, and feeding,

You must be comfortable with other employees and volunteers to be
on the property during the daytime hours, and be comfortable with
many dogs in and out of your living quarters. Showing dogs to
potential adopters and fosters by appointment if needed. We are
not looking for someone who simply needs free rent. We are
looking for someone who is passionate about dogs and rescuing who
doesn't mind being surrounded by dogs all day long. Ideally, one
of you would be a vet-tech, trainer, or similar dog-professional
while the other may have a part time day-job. As long as someone
is always on the property each morning and each night to ensure
they are always monitored. This means that if you go out at night
to dinner and a movie, you must hire a dog-sitter for the hours
that you are gone, or make arrangements with our many volunteers
to do it for free, as long as you never leave the property
unattended when our staff is not there. The property is clean,
safe, and basic. It has approximately 700 sq. ft. of tile floors,
laundry, stove, refrigerator, and plenty of outdoor space not all
of which will be used for the dogs. There is air-conditioning in
every room although the house seems to keep really cool on the
inside. There is plenty of daylight as well. If you do not have
your own furniture we can probably provide you with whatever you
need through our generous volunteers and donors. Absolutely no
smoking or marijuana use. A refundable security deposit of $350
is required and you are responsible for the Internet/phone/TV
costs which is approximately $100/month. If you feel that you are

I'M LOOKING FOR A CARETAKER for my property in Davis Creek, CA.
This caretaking position is in exchange for rent. My property has
10 acres with two levels - upstairs it's flat and level, and
downstairs there's a creek to cool off in the summer. It's a
peaceful spot with beautiful views. The ideal candidate should
know how to do fencing, working with wood, tree trimming,
sagebrush removal and gardening, and not mind living in a remote
area. You need an RV or pop-up trailer in order to stay here.
There are no animals yet, but will arrive soon, which is why I
would like someone here overseeing everything when I'm gone
(working). Where I'm at is off-the-grid, so I substitute with
solar power, batteries, propane and candles instead of
electricity. So far, this has been a very pleasant experience.
Cell phones do work here. You can send and receive texts and
receive incoming calls. However, to make outbound calls, you may
have to go to Lakeview. I offer a quiet and peaceful living
arrangement for the right person with no drama or health problems
in exchange for the above-mentioned duties. A horse or a dog is
OK once we get the fence up. A pick-up works best out here. You
will need excellent references - at least three. The property is
about 35 miles north of Alturas, CA which is also about six
minutes from the Oregon border and tax-free shopping! To apply,
please mail your resume and references to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Contact information for these ads is available only to Gazette

I NEED A HOUSESITTER for my home and pets in the Washington Park

a housesitter who will look after our two lovely dogs (both are

feeding the cat and dogs on a regular schedule. The cat sleeps

SEEKING A CARETAKER OR CARETAKER COUPLE for an off-the-grid
Colorado Ranch. Looking for a like-minded individual and/or
couple who would be interested in a live/work relationship as a
caretaker. This is a ground floor opportunity to help co-create
an Eco Village/Natural Healing Center and could eventually turn
into a permanent thing for the right individual(s). The Ranch
called XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Contact information for these ads is
available only to Gazette subscribers) (see our Facebook page:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Contact information for these ads is
available only to Gazette subscribers)) is still in the infantile
stage of development so self-reliance is very important. If you
have ever thought about living a more sustainable lifestyle this
is the place to learn. There is a lot to do on the ranch, but
also plenty of opportunity and space to do your own thing,
especially if you are into the outdoors. There are lots of places
to explore in this beautiful area, such as Disappointment Valley
and Dolores River, Moab is only an hour away, and Canyons of the
Ancients, Mesa Verde, etc. are all within an hour. We are family
oriented, God-fearing people, and we are children, animal, and
420 friendly. Caretaker duties: mostly just helping out with
everyday ranch stuff. Feed the animals (currently two goats, 10
chickens, two rabbits, two dogs, two cats, and six fish), water
and maintain our three garden areas, help out with some of the
many ongoing projects, and light security for the ranch (just
keep an eye on things basically). Plus help maintain any of our
standing structures - sheds, geo-domes, poopers, and Base Camp
(Community Kitchen Area). Take on full duties described above
when we are out of town. The Ranch is located 20 miles west of
Monticello, UT, and 11 miles north of Dove Creek, CO in a little
town called Egnar, CO. Please call XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Contact
information for these ads is available only to Gazette

ALOHA! We are looking for a couple to share a farm caretaker roll
as part of our sustainable permaculture farm and retreat while we
come and go with our travels. The caretaker roll is an
opportunity to grow, learn and immerse in an established farm and
community. The exchange is available immediately through the Fall
or possibly longer for about 15 - 18 hours a week per person. You
will be on Sunday - Thursday, or Tuesday - Saturday for about
three to four hours a day. The situation includes rent, utilities
and a share of food from the farm as well as the potential to
generate income from farm sales. Some sales are already
established and there is room for more income generation for
self-motivated, inspired individuals. Ideally, this position
would be filled with folks who want to generate income off the
farm and/or do paid farm/construction work through existing
connections we have which could supplement their income. The farm
is located on 7.5 acres, on the slopes of Mauna Loa Volcano with
sweeping views of Kealakekua Bay and Honaunau's City of Refuge on
the Big Island of Hawaii. We are a small community of people
living on the land creating a conscious model of food diversity,
self-sufficiency and holistic living. We host many folks from
around the world as renters, exchangers, guests in our guest
house, and workshop attendees. We love inspiring a holistic local
lifestyle and being a working demonstration of how we can do
that. We have 15 years of experience in sustainable agriculture
and holistic living. On the farm we have dozens of different
types of trees and plants growing that are integrated with our
animals. Our animals include poultry, ducks, rabbits, milking
sheep and goats. We also have over 150 Macadamia Nut trees. We
are looking for inspired people who want the opportunity to step
into an established sustainable farm and educational community
and feel a sense of excitement and engagement with the lifestyle
and what it can offer. We would love folks who want to connect
with the local community, continue to grow our collective
networks, and share in a solution oriented, fun, healthy
lifestyle. We hope for open minded individuals with a positive
outlook on life who will bring energy, skills and generative
capacity to help the community and the farm function well and
flourish. We are looking for folks who have a passion and
curiosity for life, for cultivating self-reliance, and for their
own personal growth. In addition to farming, we enjoy cooking,
yoga, music, dance, qigong/neigung, meditation, reading,
swimming, snorkeling, hiking, exploring the islands, traveling,
learning about other cultures, etc. As a caretaker some of your
tasks will include feeding and watering animals, maintaining the
veggie gardens, mowing and weed wacking and minor general upkeep
of the farm and community spaces. Because we have animals, there
are daily morning and afternoon activities that need to be tended
to. Morning and afternoon "Land Dance" is when the animals are
fed and watered, so the day is split, but afternoon timing can be
flexible. Housing is in one of our rustic 12 x 20 cabins with
plywood floor. There is a shared living room, an outside heated
shower as well as inside bathroom and kitchen facilities. The
income that can be generated from the farm may include macnuts,
goat milk and cheese, fruit, chickens, ducks, value added
products, etc. We already have relationships with several
restaurants as avenues for sales and farmer's markets. If this
sounds like a good potential fit, we would love to hear from you!
Please write us with a resume or letter of interest and
experience as well as a photo doing something you love. You can
check out the farm at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Contact information

ALOHA, if you recently responded to my similar post and did not
get a reply, please try emailing again. I have a six acre
homestead on the forest reserve near Mountain View and am in need
of a caretaker or two for the farm. This position is unpaid, but
comes with an off-grid house, solar power, and vehicle. I am
basically looking for someone or a couple who can weed whack,
feed/water animals daily, and keep my garden beds free of weeds.
There are other random tasks as well, but no more than a couple
of hours of real honest work per day. There is an amazing lava
tube on the property and it is used as a venue for movie
productions and events. I have pigs, goats, ducks and a dog. The
property will be featured on an upcoming episode of House Hunters
International. My ideal caretakers would be trustworthy,
responsible, not afraid of rain, independent, drama free, and not
be complainers. I am not looking to take care of anyone, I am
looking for people to take care of my farm. I am a 29-year-old,
male, combat veteran, ex-fireman, world traveler, and an
agriculture major. I really enjoying having fun and love my life
a lot. I enjoy traveling and will be gone often. This is a
long-term position. To be clear: I cannot afford to pay anyone
for any work. I have had trouble with the past caretakers feeling
that because they did more work than I asked while I was away
that it was acceptable to compensate themselves with my
belongings. I really am looking for someone to take care of my
things, but not to take them. The house isn't amazing and it can
get pretty lonely out in the woods. Not to mention it rains a lot
in the rainforest and the amenities aren't great! Please keep
that in mind before considering this position. Please email

BIG ISLAND VOLUNTEERS needed. I will need help with miscellaneous
tasks as well as general building, painting, etc. Good character,
willing hands to help, but most importantly a great attitude,
excellent work ethic, responsibility, reliability, consistency,
honesty, openness, a kind heart and curiosity to learn in the
ongoing development of this place. You certainly do not need to
be superman or super woman. You must be willing to commit no less
than a week although I do prefer two weeks commitment. This is
not a place for Mr. Prince or Miss Princess. If you choose to
come here is because you are interesting in working, learning and
growing as a whole individual and human being. One big meal a
day, perhaps two provided. Please know and be aware that you will
be responsible to prepare your own meals and possibly the hosts,
particularly if you love to cook. I am mostly vegetarian but have
no problems with meat eaters if that is your choice, as long as
you buy your own meat. I live on the Big Island, 45 miles south
of Kona (tourist point), 75 miles from Hilo, 45 miles from the
ongoing erupting volcano, and 15 miles from South Point - one of
the most beautiful places in Hawaii - and Green Sand beach. My
property is located at over 4,000 feet elevation and with an
overwhelming ocean view. The temperature is spring-like, commonly
pleasant winds although strong at times. I live a simple life
with water catchment, solar power and compost toilet. There are
beautiful and clear skies here, and most importantly, it is
absolutely quiet. No cars, therefore, no traffic, yet, easy
access. No close by neighbors. I am located on a beautiful
80-year-old lava flow with pukas and caves. Totally "off the
beaten path" and 100% dedicated to self-sustainable living and
close to zero footprint. It would be appropriate to mention that
my set up is designed to be self-sufficient with minimum resource
demands from nature. Perfect for those eager to learn how it is
possible to live and be environmentally friendly and yet have the
comfort and dignity of well living. As long as I can and there
are no other priorities at hand and you have of course have shown
signs of good work ethics, I have no problem to drive you
somewhere of your particular need, but understand you will need
to pay in advance for the necessary gas required to cover the
trip. You most love simplicity, nature and solitude to come in
this direction. If you want to get out of a rat-race life style,
or if you are spiritually inclined, this could be a great space
for rejuvenating, nurturing your soul, introspection,
contemplation, meditation, and self-exploration. And I am here to
help you and support you. There is nothing more beautiful than to
meet each other - open, unprotected and free. But if you like the
crazy fun time, ongoing activities to keep you busy, plenty of
entertainment, etc., you could get very bored, since I do not
have broadcast TV, Internet or any possible items to keep you
entertained and distracted etc. In the morning I do have my time
alone to meditate, introspect, and start the day from then on. My
life ultimate purpose and dedication and interest is for
self-introspection, peace and internal freedom. I encourage and
support whoever comes in this direction to create that time for
themselves as well. This land is a great support for nurturing,
healing, and falling in love within yourself in the purest and
deepest way and in this life time. The Mauna Loa can be your
witness. While I do not judge anybody with any kind of drug
inclination, I do not surround myself with drugs or people who do
drugs or heavy alcohol, therefore, drugs are not allowed on this
property. In short; you are welcome, drugs are not, either in
your pocket or in your body. Please call XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(Contact information for these ads is available only to Gazette
subscribers). Peace to all. May all humanity become free and
discover ultimate Truth. May we all see each other as who we are
as we discover who we really are.
ALOHA! WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS through February
2016. Our backpacker hostel, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Contact
information for these ads is available only to Gazette
subscribers), is located directly on the edge of the Blue Lagoon
and the Pacific Ocean in beautiful historic Kapa'a Town on the
island of Kauai. Kapa'a was voted one of the top 10 most
beautiful towns in America. Kauai is the "Garden Isle" and is by
far the most beautiful of all the Hawaiian Islands, in fact more
beautiful than all the others put together. Kauai has a lush
tropical environment with a cooling Pacific Trade Wind breeze
coming through the hostel. People travel here from around the
world to hike some of the most amazing trails in the world (see
Na Pali Coast and Waimea Canyon). The sun and moon rise come up
directly in back of the Kauai Beach House Hostel, an amazing
experience every day, just so you can begin and end your day in
this tropical paradise of Kauai in blissful surroundings. We are
looking for some great helpers to join our staff! You must be
outgoing, energetic, hard-working, and able to show the "aloha
spirit" of the island. We will set up a Skype interview to get to
meet you and see if you would be a great fit! We currently are
looking for helpers with hostel experience (preferred but not
necessary). Our volunteers do a variety of tasks, although mainly
it involves any of the following: housekeeping - cleaning the
hostel and kitchen, bathrooms, pulling sheets off beds,
organizing the hostel, etc., reception (two month minimum stay) -
checking people in and out, ensuring people have paid, answering
the telephone, taking cash payments and running credit card
payments, maintenance - the tropical environment keeps us busy
with upkeep. This job would be varied depending on the needs. If
you have any maintenance experience, like painting, plumbing,
electric, let us know! But as long as you are a good helper in
any category you will be welcome if you are ready to learn,
because the experience you get here is an actual training in the
hospitality field, and the many facets in the operation and
running of a hostel. In return for your help of approximately 21
hours per week or less, you will enjoy a nice bed and your
utilities, including of course hot showers, full kitchen and
other freebies like Wi-Fi. We all help prepare a weekly staff
meal paid for by the hostel. We also provide volunteers with
basic staples like rice and beans to add to your meals everyday
if you like. There is a four week minimum stay, but we prefer
people to stay for two to three months. Longer term help could be
discussed after you have been here for three months. The
island-wide bus service stops in both directions just outside of
our hostel, so everything is within reach. There is also an 11
mile bike path that touches our property right outside of our
hostel. It runs right along the edge of the ocean; it is
spectacular! You can walk to 20 restaurants; there are 60 in
Kapa'a Town, and many are international. There is also live music
in Kapa'a seven nights a week at different pubs and clubs. Please
email XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Contact information for these ads is

ICELAND
VOLUNTEERS needed on the historical island of Viey from May 18 to
May 28, 2016. Viey or "Wood Island" is the largest (1.7 km)
island in the Kollafjord Bay, just outside Reykjavík. The
island is covered by many species of plants and at least 30
species of breeding birds have been counted here. Viey is a
popular destination during the summer among Icelandic as well as
foreign visitors. Volunteers will help prepare for a busy season.
The project offers diverse tasks and various experiences for
volunteers. First of all, volunteers will beautify the
surroundings by cleaning up the area, especially along the
coastline. Volunteers will carry out some planting and gardening
activities as well and possibly make and maintain walking paths.
The weather conditions in Iceland are unpredictable; the
temperature in May can drop quickly during the evenings. Be
prepared to experience all kinds of weather and be sure of
bringing warm clothing since most of the work will take place
outdoors. Volunteers should have motivation to work outside and
work in all different kinds of weather. Volunteers will be lodged
in a local house at Viey Island, in a sleeping bag accommodation
sharing rooms. Please bring your own sleeping bag. The house has
a well equipped kitchen. Volunteers will receive food supplies
and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning activities. There
are hiking and cycling paths around the island and there is no
motor traffic allowed. It also inhabits intriguing sculptural art
work, amongst them all nine pairs of basalt pillars that comprise
Richard's Serra's work fangar and Yoko Ono's "Imagine peace"
column, a tower of light, which is supported by the widow of John
Lennon. Other places of interest on Viey are related to
archaeological research, the village. At the eastern end of the
island is the site of an abandoned fishing village and
Vieyjarnaust, at the southwest of the island, it is a memorial to
the twenty men who lost their lives when the cutter Ingvar sank
off Viey in 1906. Dramatic formations of columnar basalt may be
seen on the shore. To learn more, please visit

PROPERTY CARETAKER PROFILE
From Business Careers to Caretaking: Richard and Joyce Crow
Address: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Contact information for these ads
is available only to Gazette subscribers)
Dates of Birth: Richard 5/30/35 and Joyce 3/16/39
Interests: Richard: fixing things, design, troubleshooting,
cards, golf, power boating, travel, history. Joyce: reading,
travel, puzzles, cooking.
Quote: If you are going to do something do it right the first
time. A Penny saved is worth more than a penny earned.
Richard and Joyce Crow at the Augusta Sailing Club
If you had asked me 50 years ago what I would be doing at this
stage in my life, my answer would not have been "I'm a property
caretaker". So what brought me to this position? I started out by
attending and completing a six month course in Farm Management at
Ohio State University. I thought I would like to join the FBI,
because when I was in the service I was with the Secret Service.
When I enrolled in OSU as a full-time student, it was there that
I met Joyce, my wife of 56 years. I married and left school and
then embarked on my future careers.
I first worked as an insurance inspector while at same time I
worked for the City of Columbus, Ohio. I couldn't see either of
these jobs as a career so I took the jump and went into the
copier business as an owner/manager. As part of this I contracted
with Minolta of Japan to import their copiers into the U.S. I did
this for about 20 years then sold the business. During those
years I learned about electrical, motors, adjustments, and copier
quality. This gave me world travel and well as travel in all of
the 50 states, both as a salesperson and also training for the
300 dealerships I set up, training both the sales staff as well
as the service departments.
I formed a partnership with Dinneen Excavating Company and helped
build this company from a labor force of two to over 50, which
ranked 165 of the 500 fastest growing companies in the U.S.
During this venture we also started an inground swimming pool
division. It was through my position that I learned about pumps,
electrical and plumbing, and designs for patio, cement and
fencing.
During my travels I saw a display of the Hotsy Corporation with a
new product looking for distributors in the Midwest. This was a
new idea of using water to clean, using a water pressure pump. We
all know now that the pressure washer is a useful tool in our
industry, but 40 years ago, this was an unknown. This intrigued
me so I went into the sales and service of this new idea. This
ballooned to having offices in Ohio, Connecticut, and Vermont. I
became one of the largest dealers in the East. Here we had
installations in automotive dealerships and transit companies,
offering complete installation, which included the plumbing,
discharge, and electrical of these systems. I sold these two
businesses and looked for new ventures.
As a subscriber to The Caretaker Gazette, I read an ad for a
facilities manager for the Augusta Sailing Club. I applied and
started there in 2010. The grounds consists of 15 acres, six
docks, clubhouse, and two outbuildings. There are 300 members,
190 sailboats, 28 campers, and six cabins. My position involved
taking care of the security and fellowship - it was a very
demanding and joyful position. Each day something different came
up in addition to the normal maintenance of the grounds: mowing,
weed whacking, pinecone pick up, spraying, cleaning of the
clubhouse after the sailing events, and maintaining the public
water system. When I arrived at this facility, they were using
mostly outside services to accomplish these chores. My goal was
not to work harder as they suggested but to work smarter using or
acquiring materials and equipment to do a better job. This was
accomplished by building a garage to maintain the equipment,
preventive maintenance, and storage. Within the first couple of
years we reduced the outside labor and outside contractors,
electrical, plumbing, water systems, landscapers, casual labor,
to just myself and one other part-time person, for a money
savings of over $70,000. One example would be they used to weed
whack for three days a week, now these areas are sprayed and
mulch is added. As a result, it looks much better and there is a
great savings in labor. This gave us more time to take on other
chores and meet the new members. All members have the same
comments. "You have taken great care of these grounds." The
sailing club is the best-kept secret in the Augusta area.
In Vermont, we purchased a True Value Hardware Store and added a
garden center. Because we were close to the border, our customers
were Canadians. I eventually sold this, obtained a Vermont real
estate license, and sold modular homes. During these periods my
wife was involved in the bed and breakfast industry, either
owning or working in it. We met people from all over the world.
My wife was also involved in teaching cooking classes. We both
completed domestic service school. I took and old barn in Vermont
and converted it into a 5,000 sq. ft. modern house.
So now what do I do? I saw an ad for a manager of an apartment
complex. I took the job. I liked working with the residents and
renting apartments. I let my maintenance people go and I did all
the maintenance myself. The owner told me that saved him about
$50,000 per year so I got a nice raise. At the same time I took
over management of a friend's property too. I also worked for the
largest homebuilder in Columbus Ohio as his personal house
manager. During this time I acquired my Ohio real estate license
for property management and I also completed the requirements to
be Ohio Supreme Court Mediator. Next I went to be the Resident
Manager for an Ohio University for student, alumni, and retired
teachers. Here we worked doing all duties for the 64 apartments
as needed.
I found my Sailing Club Manager position through The Caretaker
Gazette and they have now hired my replacement using the
Gazette's website, so you never know where life is going to take
you. Looking forward to my next adventure. I have one
recommendation for new applicants," always have a good cover
letter ", or you will get passed over.

LOUISIANA
HELP NEEDED in Breaux Bridge, LA. I am a renaissance woman who
grows much of my food on a small lot in a small town in the south
Louisiana Acadiana area known for Cajun and Creole music and
culture and I play Zydeco and Cajun music with local bands.
Dancing is one of my passions too and I can teach it. I think
outside the box and like to deal with other creative free
conscientious people. I do most of my maintenance on my old
cypress house property, and it's always a work in progress. I am
into sustainable living and consciousness work, art, music,
cycling, kayaking, swimming and fishing. Your work could involve
anything from gardening to housework, jewelry making, building,
tree cutting, digging, painting, mechanical maintenance, selling
stuff on eBay, and anything that we want to create or that you
are good at and want to contribute. I am an idea person and tend
to generate projects and welcome assistance. I prefer to work
with someone who is an independent worker and knows how to use
and maintain tools. Right now I need people who have construction
and gardening skills. I eat healthy, mostly organic whole foods,
mostly plants and I'm a pretty good cook. I know about cultural
events involving music and can show you the inside of the local
Cajun and Zydeco scene. There are kayaks and bikes here and the
lake is close. I am currently looking for help finishing a room
