Brazil

HELP NEEDED ON A PERMACULTURE SELF SUSTAINABLE farm. Our farm is situated in a natural reserve area called Bananal, located 18 kilometers from the beaches of Peruibe. Using the idea behind observing and working with what is natural and unique to this landscape we are learning to grow local plants and fruit trees, as well as understand the forestation of the area, to best work with the land to support us and our animals. Currently we are growing orchards of multiple fruit trees, such as jack-fruit, papaya, starfruit, guava, bananas, coffee, cacao, and limes to name a few, as well as vegetables in our garden. We are using the concept of building green, by using local materials found on the land, such as different varieties of woods, bamboo, and clay. We have switched most of our toilets over to a dry toilet system in order to make less of an environmental impact and use the compost to make fertilizer, using the animal manure and composting systems to create fertilizer for our soil. In the future we have plans to build a bio-digest or hydro generator. The farm work allows for developing strength, flexibility and endurance of both body and mind! There are many rivers with swimming holes, and local pubs, a waterfall, and nature hikes around the farm. You are welcome to fish in our lake, or just float on a boat and enjoy the view from the water. There is a local bus service every three hours to downtown Peruibe, and back to Bananal. PART-TIME RANCH CARETAKER NEEDED in Santa Margarita. There are six groups of hunters. We have Axis deer, so we have hunting year round. We also are in a program that extends the white tail hunting season.
