LIVE-IN CARETAKER NEEDED at a small, non-working ranch in Tehachapi, California. My husband and I have 184 acres in Tehachapi and are looking for a live-in caretaker just to feed the animals and clean the barn when I’m not in town (which is about 40% of the time). We have a little house you can live in for free. I pay for all utilities, and I’ll even pay your cell phone bill. You can also have up to two horses that I’ll pay for in lieu of pay. I’ll pay for all the hay, supps and ferrier. I find that you will probably put in less than 40 hours a month. But if I ask you to do more, then I will pay you $25 an hour. The Lighthouse Keepers are a “couple” who, as employees of the organization, manage and run the bed and breakfast inn and day use programs at [Contact info available to subscribers]. The five-room inn is currently open four evenings a week, Thursday through Sunday, and the island is available for day use visitors on summer weekends. Duties include boat transportation, tours, dinner and breakfast preparation and serving, and cleaning. Assistance with island maintenance is by a volunteer group. One of the individuals must possess a valid U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential NMC operator’s license for a boat carrying at least six passengers. Seeking a mature ranch couple who love wild lands and animals and are looking for long-term employment. Care and maintenance of a gorgeous, isolated 2,000 acre ranch (Wildlife Refuge) in Northern New Mexico, between Santa Fe and Taos, at a high elevation. The owners don’t hunt. They live and work remotely from there, but they travel, and the property requires constant extensive upkeep. Experience with horses is necessary. We have a few delightful, cooperative horses that require daily cleaning and care, and dogs. We will provide spacious, high-quality, private housing with views. A variety of handy skills, physical strength, mechanical skills, and housekeeping and cooking skills are necessary. A FULL-TIME, YEAR-ROUND RANCH CARETAKER is needed. The caretaker will perform a full range of duties on a large private ranch property in Sonoma County. The caretaker will be responsible for ranch security; overall maintenance of roads, a barn, grounds, and house; and operation and maintenance of ranch equipment (chainsaws, mowers, log splitter, tractor, etc.). Reports directly to the property owner. This is a full-time non-exempt (hourly) position with some Saturday and Sunday work.
